A tax group combines several taxes, for example GST and PST, under one name. When you assign the group to a plan price, every tax in the group is applied together on invoices.

Before You Start
Create each individual tax under Settings → Administration Settings → Taxes using New Tax. In this example, GST is 5% and PST is 7%.
Create the Tax Group
- Go to Settings → Administration Settings → Taxes and click New Tax Group.
- Enter a Tax Group Name, for example GST + PST (Canada).
- Under Associated Taxes, select each tax that belongs to the group. The rate of each tax is shown next to it.
- Click Save. The group appears in the tax list, marked Tax Group.
Apply the Group to a Plan Price
- Go to the Products module and open the product.
- On the price, click … and choose Edit price.
- Select Taxable and choose the Tax mode.
- In Tax code, select the tax group. Groups are listed alongside individual taxes.
- Click Update price.
Result on the Invoice
Create a subscription with that plan and open its invoice. The Tax amount for the line is the combined total of every tax in the group, and Total Tax reflects it.
Example
| Price | GST (5%) | PST (7%) | Group tax (12%) | Invoice total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $299.00 | $14.95 | $20.93 | $35.88 | $334.88 |
Good to Know
- The invoice shows the combined tax amount for each line. It does not show a separate amount for each tax in the group.
- A group can contain SubscriptionFlow taxes or TaxJar taxes, but not a mix of both. When you select one kind, the other kind is disabled in the list.
- Changes made to a price apply to new subscriptions only.
