Before you can create a subscription with a free trial make sure you have enabled trials from the Administration Settings. Go to this guide on how to enable trials.
- Once your trials are enabled, click on to the Subscriptions module from the dashboard.
- This takes you to a list of all your subscriptions. Click ‘Create Subscription’.
- To learn how to create a subscription in detail go to this guide. Choose a customer from the dropdown menu, the subscription type i.e. termed or evergreen, and a subscription start date at which the subscription will be activated.
- Since your Trial Subscription Setting was previously enabled, you will see a checkbox to ‘Enable Trial’. Checking this box will allow your customer to run a trial before activating their subscription.
- SubscriptionFlow offers two types of subscriptions – Termed and Evergreen. Evergreen, as the name implies, has a start date and doesn’t stop until your customer opts out or you cancel it. A termed subscription, however, ends after its initial termed duration is over and may be set to auto-renew. Select the initial period and period type to set the duration of the term. Also, select the time frame of the trial through the trial period and trial period unit fields.
- Click ‘Auto Renew’, so the subscription is renewed automatically for another 12 months after the initial period of twelve months has elapsed. This feature only applies to termed subscriptions as evergreen subscriptions stay active continuously.
- Finally, scroll down to Product, and click on the dropdown menu to select the product tied to this subscription.
- Under Plan, click on the dropdown menu to choose any plan assigned to this product.
- Once your product and plan are selected, you may customize their price.
- Finally, click ‘Save’.
- Confirm your subscription display name and click ‘Continue’.
- Voila! Your subscription has now been successfully created with a free trial. Go back to the Subscriptions module to see the trial subscription that has been created.
