If your customers and their saved payment details are stored in a payment gateway, you can import them straight from the gateway into SubscriptionFlow. Customers keep their cards or bank accounts, so you can keep charging them without asking for their details again.
This article covers Authorize.Net, NMI, Paystack, CyberSource, GoCardless and Braintree. For Stripe, see Stripe Import Utilities.
What Each Gateway Imports
| Gateway | Modules | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Authorize.Net | Customers, Payment Cards, Bank Accounts, Subscriptions | Customers come from your Customer Information Manager (CIM) profiles, with their shipping address. Subscriptions are your Automated Recurring Billing (ARB) subscriptions of every status (active, inactive, expired); SubscriptionFlow works out the next bill date and end date from each schedule. |
| NMI | Customers, Payment Cards, Bank Accounts, Subscriptions | Customers come from the Customer Vault. Each recurring subscription is imported with a product and plan; subscribers on the same NMI plan (or the same custom name, amount and billing period) share one plan. |
| Paystack | Customers, Payment Cards | Cards are the customers' saved authorizations. |
| CyberSource | Customers, Payment Cards | Customers and cards come from Token Management. SubscriptionFlow finds your customer tokens from transactions processed with Token Management; if none are found, ask CyberSource to enable the Token Management Search entitlement. |
| GoCardless | Customers, Bank Accounts | Bank accounts are imported for direct debit. |
| Braintree | Customers, Payment Cards |
Before You Start
- Connect the gateway in Settings › Payment Settings and make sure it is enabled. The import uses this connection. If you have more than one connection for the same gateway, the first one is used.
- If you already have customers in SubscriptionFlow, back up your data first. Records whose email already exists are skipped, not overwritten.
Step 1: Open Import Data
- Click the gear icon to open Settings. Under Data Administration, click Imports.
- On Import Data, the New Import tab groups the sources. Under Payment Gateways, click your gateway.
- If the gateway isn't connected or enabled, a dialog says Please Connect … App. Click Close, connect the gateway in Payment Settings, and try again.
Step 2: Choose What to Import
-
Import from gateway opens (GoCardless in this example). It shows the Strategy (Import New Data: only records that don't exist yet, matched by email), the estimated time and the modules under Select data to import, all ticked. Untick any module you don't need.
If you import cards or bank accounts, choose the Payment method import mode:
- Import everything: import all customers and their payment methods from scratch.
- Only for existing SF customers: import payment methods only for customers already in SubscriptionFlow, matched by email.
- Fill in missing payment methods: import only the payment methods that existing customers don't have yet.
Then click Continue with N modules.
Step 3: Review the Mapping and Run the Import
SubscriptionFlow creates the field mappings and opens the mapping review. Check the mappings and start the import. The mapping and settings steps are the same as for a file import: see Customers Import. Follow the import on Imports › History.
Tip: Import Customers with (or before) payment methods and subscriptions, so every card, bank account and subscription is linked to its customer.
