Moving to SubscriptionFlow from Stripe Billing? The Stripe import utility copies your customers, saved payment methods, products, prices and subscriptions straight from your Stripe account, so you don't have to export and re-import CSV files.
Before You Start
- Connect your Stripe account in Settings › Payment Settings and make sure the gateway is enabled. See Stripe. The import uses this connection.
- Back up your existing SubscriptionFlow data if you already have customers. Records whose email already exists in SubscriptionFlow are skipped, not overwritten.
Step 1: Open Import Data
- Click the gear icon to open Settings. Under Data Administration, click Imports.
- On Import Data, the New Import tab groups the import sources. Under Payment Gateways, click Stripe.
If Stripe isn't connected or enabled, a dialog says Please Connect Stripe App. Connect it first, then come back.
Step 2: Choose What to Import
-
Import from Stripe opens. SubscriptionFlow checks your connection and shows:
- The Strategy. Import New Data imports records that don't exist in SubscriptionFlow yet (matched by email), with the estimated time.
- Select data to import: every module is ticked. Click a module to untick it.
The Stripe modules are:
| Module | Imported as |
|---|---|
| Customers | Customers, with their contact details |
| Payment Cards | Saved cards, as customer payment methods |
| Bank Accounts | Linked bank accounts (for example ACH or pre-authorized debit), as payment methods |
| Products | Products from your Stripe catalog |
| Plans (Prices) | Each Stripe price becomes a plan (named after the price nickname or its product) with its price |
| Subscriptions | Active and past subscriptions, linked to the imported customers and to the plans created from their prices |
Import Customers together with the other modules (or before them), so payment methods and subscriptions can be linked to their customers.
- If you import Payment Cards or Bank Accounts, choose the Payment method import mode:
- Import everything: import all customers and their payment methods from scratch.
- Only for existing SF customers: import payment methods only for customers already in SubscriptionFlow, matched by email.
- Fill in missing payment methods: import only the payment methods that existing SubscriptionFlow customers don't have yet.
- Read the Recommendations (for example, Backup recommended when you already have customers), then click Continue with N modules.
Step 3: Review the Mapping and Run the Import
SubscriptionFlow creates the field mappings for each module ("Mappings Created Successfully") and opens the mapping review. Check the mappings, change any field you need, and start the import. The mapping and settings steps are the same as for a file import: see Customers Import.
Follow the import on Imports › History. When it finishes, check a few customers and subscriptions against Stripe before you start billing from SubscriptionFlow.
