Group Subscriptions enable the association of multiple contacts with a single subscription, effectively allowing subscriptions to be managed in a grouped format. This feature is tightly integrated with the Gift Subscriptions functionality and must be enabled explicitly.
Enabling Gift Group Subscriptions
To activate this functionality:
- Navigate to Preferences > Subscriptions.
- Change the Subscription Type from Individual to Group.
Once enabled, the subscription quantity will directly determine the number of contacts that can be associated with the subscription.
Creating a Subscription with Group Functionality in Customer Portal
When creating a gift subscription via the Customer Portal, if group functionality is enabled, you will be prompted to associate contacts equal to the subscription quantity. You can either:
- Select existing contacts from the customer's profile.
- Create new contacts.
The same process applies when modifying existing gift subscriptions.
⚠️ Validation: If the number of assigned contacts does not match the subscription quantity, you will receive validation errors prompting you to adjust the contact list accordingly.
Viewing Associated Contacts
After successfully creating or updating a group subscription, the list of associated contacts will be displayed in the Subscription Details View within the Customer Portal.
Checkout Configuration for Group Subscriptions
To configure the checkout process for group subscriptions:
- Go to Settings > Web Checkout > Designer > Other Sections.
- Add a New Section and select Contacts from the dropdown.
This will add a contact configuration form to the checkout process.
Section Customization
- Label: You can customize the label for this section.
- Field Selection: Choose the contact fields to display.
- Checkbox Options:
- Disable Custom Section for Regular Subscriptions: Restrict this form to only appear for gift subscriptions.
Once configured, this new section will appear during checkout.
Dynamic Section Handling Based on Quantity
The number of contact sections displayed during checkout will dynamically reflect the selected quantity:
- Increase in Quantity: Adds new contact sections accordingly.
- Decrease in Quantity: Removes excess contact sections to maintain parity.
Post-Checkout Associations
After completing checkout:
- The subscription will list all associated contacts.
- Each contact will also reflect the linked subscription.
You can manage visibility of these related lists via the Configure option if they are not initially visible.
