Churned Monthly Recurring Revenue (Churned MRR) refers to the amount of predictable monthly revenue lost due to subscription cancellations or expiration within a given period. This metric is important because it helps businesses understand the rate at which they are losing recurring revenue and to take action to reduce customer churn.
Churned MRR is calculated by summing up the monthly recurring value of all subscriptions that were cancelled or expired during a specific time frame. A high Churned MRR may indicate customer dissatisfaction, pricing issues, or product fit concerns.
For example:
- If five customers cancel subscriptions each worth $100 MRR, your Churned MRR is:
5 × $100 = $500
